Faith, spirituality and chaplaincy

The EPUT chaplaincy and spiritual care team is part of the wider healthcare team and now has employed professional chaplains from varied faith backgrounds based across our sites. As well as employed chaplains, the service is supported by a network of trained chaplaincy volunteers.

Our team provide non-judgmental, sensitive and confidential support and aim to provide links with various faith and religious groups as required. They work to share:

  • A deep-seated sense of meaning and purpose in life
  • A sense of belonging
  • A sense of connection of ‘the deeply personal with the universal’
  • Acceptance, integration and a sense of wholeness

These experiences are part of the daily reality of being human but spirituality often becomes more important in times of distress, emotional stress, physical and mental illness, loss, bereavement and the approach of death.
