Summary
You have been diagnosed with a psychotic illness and therefore referred to us for specialist care and treatment to set you on the road to recovery.
Service Information
Psychosis is a general term used to describe a number of symptoms, some of which are:
- False beliefs/delusions such as paranoia and suspiciousness
- Hallucinations such as experiencing things that are not really there – voices, smells or seeing things
- Confused thinking such as racing thoughts, difficulty concentrating
- Changed feelings such as mood swings, depression, anxiety
- Changed behaviours such as being unable to sleep, poor appetite or overeating.
There are different types of psychosis such as:
- Bipolar
- Schizophrenia
- Psychotic depression
- Drug induced psychosis
- Schizoaffective disorder

You will be referred to the team by our Access and Assessment Service
